MAN ON LIFE SUPPORT AFTER SHOOTING IN SANTEE

January 13, 2012 (Santee) – The Sheriff’s Homicide detail has been called to the scene of a shooting in the 10000 block of Prospect Avenue in Santee.  At 5:09 a.m., deputies responded to a call of a shooting and found the victim inside the home. 

“The victim was transported to an area hospital by helicopter where he is on life support,” Lieutenant Larry Nesbitt with the Sheriff's Homicide Detail said.

Authorities have not identified the victim.  ECM news partner 10 News interviewed the victim’s adult son and an officer at the scene.  According to 10 News, the victim was found on the couch with a gunshot wound to his head; his sister reportedly told investigators she was showering when she heard a shot, then discovered her brother had been shot.

Deputies arrived within four minutes of receiving a radio call.  Personnel from the Santee and Lakeside Fire Departments also responded and treated the victim at the scene before he was transported.

No gun was found inside the residence,  Sheriff Sergeant Curt Goldberg told 10 News.
