NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING APRIL 29: PROPOSED UNIFICATION OF ALPINE UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version Share this

April 19, 2014 (Alpine) – A public hearing on proposed unification of the Alpine Union School District will be held in Alpine on April 29 at 6 p.m. in the Alpine Elementary School auditorium. The hearing will be conducted by the San Diego County Board of Education.

Unification would shift Alpine families out of the Grossmont Union High School  District and into an Alpine Union School District that would be expanded to include students through 12th grade.  Unification is sought be many Alpine parents after the GUHSD board repeatedly failed to build the long-promised high school despite two bond measures for the purpose and a Grand Jury admonishment of the board.

Below is the official notice, including a link to rules of the meeting:

You are hereby notified that a petition has been filed with this office pursuant to Education Code section 35700(a) for the unification of the area of the Alpine Union School District in the Grossmont Union High School District, County of San Diego, State of California.

YOU WILL THEREFORE TAKE NOTICE that a public hearing to receive input on this matter will be held by the San Diego County Board of Education, acting as the County Committee on School District Organization, on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at 6:00 p.m. at:
