OIL TANKER COLLISION ON 54 NEAR 805; ADDITIONAL ACCIDENTS IN CREST & NORTH COUNTY

Update 8 pm:  The tanker accident has been cleared and all lanes are now open. 

February 14, 2010 6:20 p.m.  – A collision between a gasoline tanker truck and a van that has rolled over is obstructing traffic in the center lands on southbound 54 at the I-805 onramp in Chula Vista. An ambulance is en route.

 

Three other injury accidents in East and North County have also just occurred.

In Crest, an off-road quad has rolled over at La Cresta Heights Rd. and La Cresta Heights Boulevard, causing major head injuries to the driver who is lying in the road.

In Oceanside, a hit-and-run has just occurred at Robelini Drive and South Santa Fe. No details are yet available.

 

Yet another injury accident is reported by CHP at I-5 and Poinsettia.

 

In addition, a potential bridge jumper caused an earlier shut-down of the Coronado Bridge; one person is reportedly now in the hospital.
