March 2, 2016 (El Cajon) - One person has been found dead after a blaze at an El Cajon motel.

The fire broke out around 3:15 a.m. at the Villa Embasadora at 1556 East Main St.  An office manager heard a smoke alarm and saw smoke coming from a motel room and tried to knock on the door, but there was no answer.  He tried to put out the fire himself, but was unsuccesful, according to 10 News.

El Cajon Police and the El Cajon Fire Department responded to a 911 call.  Once the fire was extinguished, they entered the room and found one deceased male on the floor, according to Lt. S. Kirk with the El Cajon Police Department.

Investigators from the Police and Fire Departments, as well as the San Diego Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Team, are investigating the incident.  What caused the man's death is unknown and investigators are awaiting results from the Medicak Examiner's office.
