PASSAGES: ACCIDENTS CLAIM EAST COUNTY LIVES

May 26, 2015 (San Diego’s East County) – Accidents have claimed the lives of several local residents including Xochil Calvario or Ramona, Darrell Thomas King of Alpine, and Michael Young of El Cajon. In addition, a fatal Pine Valley accident killed Casey Phillip Ellis of Yuma, Arizona.

Xochil Calvario, 55, a Ramona resident, died at the scene of a head-on collision on Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside on May 14th after crossing the center line. A Nissan Frontier struck the Kia Calvario was driving. Barona Fire Department confirmed her death, which the Medical Examiner found was caused by blunt force injuries. 

Darrell Thomas King, 54, of Alpine died in a fire that engulfed his residence on May 12th at 1460 Marshall Road in Alpine. He was found in a kitchenette and pulled outside by firefighters, who confirmed his death due to obvious thermal injuries.

Casey Phillip Ellis, 55, of Yuma was found dead on May 2nd with his vehicle, which had plunged to the bottom of a ravine in Pine Valley 1.7 miles east of Sunrise Highway on Interstate 8.  The Medical Examiner found his death was due to injuries sustained in the accident.

Michael Young, 67, of El Cajon suffered injuries when he was ejected from a motorcycle after colliding with another vehicle on I-5 south of Cardiff by the Sea on April 11th. He was transported to Scripps La Jolla Hospital, where his condition declined and he was pronounced dead on April 28th of blunt force injuries; hypertension contributed to his death, according to the Medical Examiner.
