Celebration of Life set for October 26
October 7, 2024 (Santee) -- Bob Schulze, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away peacefully in his sleep from a heart attack on August 30, 2024. Born June 23, 1966 in Huntington, Long Island, New York, Bob moved to California at the age of three, living in Garden Grove and spending most of his adult life in Santee.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1984 to 1987 and dedicated over 30 years to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, from which he recently retired. He was passionate about keeping his country safe and prosperous, serving both at home and abroad.
Bob’s true passions extended beyond his professional career. He was a gifted singer and actor, with a love for the stage and making people laugh. Bob was the co-founder of Off Broadway Live musical theater in Santee, where his larger-than-life personality, joy for entertaining, and bringing smiles to others was a gift he shared with all.
A devoted Christian, Bob sang on the worship team of Sonrise Community Church in Santee, for many years. He was generous with his time, talent, and resources, always helping others and making everyone feel better simply by being present.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Amy; her children, Josiah and Ameliah; his daughter Candice and her husband Brandon, three grandchildren: Jason, Carter, and Gracie Lynn. He is also survived by his mother, Ruth, and his two brothers, Rich and Randy. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Richard “Bill” Schulze.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Sonrise Community Church, 8805 N. Magnolia Ave, Santee, CA, on October 26, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. The service will also be live-streamed on the church website.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to COPLINE www.copline.org, a 24/7 confidential crisis hotline that supports active and retired law enforcement officers and their loved ones. Copline provides culturally competent care for officers dealing with stress or mental health challenges, whether they are facing a tough day or a full-blown crisis. Although Bob died of natural causes, he was deeply passionate about officer wellness and supporting coworkers vulnerable to the emotional toll of the job. He would be honored to know that in his memory agents in crisis and in need of support can get help.
