August 2, 2017 (La Mesa) – NBC News reports that a 20-year-old woman says she spotted a cell phone camera held under the door of a fitting room where she was trying on clothes at Macy’s department store in Grossmont Center last Thursday, July 28th.

She spoke out and the hand quickly withdrew the phone.  When she came out of the dressing room, the peeping Tom was gone.

She reported the incident to store personnel. There is no description of the suspect, however La Mesa Police are examining surveillance footage of everyone who was in the store during the timeframe when the violation occurred.

Police are asking anyone with information on who may have taken illicit photos in the Macy’s dressing room area to please contact them.

Macy’s has issued a statement condemning the “inappropriate” action, adding, “The safety of our customers and associates is our top priority. As this is a police matter, we are cooperating fully with law enforcement as they conduct their investigation."
