April 15, 2014 (San Diego’s East County) – Night sky photographer Dennis Mammana (© Dennis Mammana/dennismammana.com) captured this beautiful image of a rare ‘blood moon” eclipse overnight in the Anza Borrego Desert.
The professional photographer managed to get this shot despite a battery failure that prevented his telescope from tracking the moon and stars as they moved across the sky, resulting in slight blurring. He adds, “I hope to have the problem solved before the next eclipse in October!”
