October 6, 2017 (El Cajon) -- October’s harvest moon is on display right now in our night sky. The full moon event peaked on October 5th and shows just how bright it can be depending on where it‘s positioned in the sky.
This bright-shining full moon, closest to the autumnal equinox, aided farmers reaping their fall crops by extending harvest hours just as daylight was waning each fall, thus was named a harvest moon.
