August 10, 2014 (San Diego's East County) - Robert Gehr snapped this photo(s) during National Night Out on August 5 at the El Cajon Police Department.  “Low civilian turnout was a bit disappointing, yet that meant no crowds,” he writes. “Games for the kids, face painting as well. SWAT display, mini fire truck rides, hot dogs, Sheriff mounted patrol, K-9 and SWAT demonstrations, and lots of camaraderie amongst Police personnel.” This annual event was also free.”

Gehr said the El Cajon event also included a demonstrating of a SWAT team taking down a mock-kidnapping suspect with flash bang devices, then rescuing the hostage and taking the suspect into custody.

SWAT

I met some SDPD SWAT members during my work with the City of SD. Good people, but they are trained to be hyper-aggressive. The Sears Building on Cleveland Avenue was being prepared for demolition and the cops were using the place for training. I was there to prepare the site for an auction. An officer advised me to not goto the first floor because a dog might attack me.
