

Slim pickings for suspect Robert William Pickens
May 11, 2010 (La Mesa) – La Mesa Police today arrested Robert William Pickens, 44, of San Diego on suspicion of holding up the Mission Federal Credit Union at Grossmont Center.
Police received a 911 call from an employee shortly after 2 p.m. advising that a man had just robbed the credit union using a demand note The suspect was described as a Hispanic male adult, about 5 feet 5 inches tall with a bald or shaved head, wearing sunglasses, a red shirt and dark colored jeans. The robber was last seen running from the credit union.
A police perimeter around the area was immediately set up and a search was started. The Sheriff’s Department ASTREA helicopter assisted. A possible suspect was located inside the Sammy’s Woodfire Pizza at 8555 Fletcher Pkwy and detained. Witnesses who were brought to the restaurant positively identified the detained man as the suspect who robbed the credit union.
Suspect Robert William PICKENS, 44 years old, from San Diego, was booked into the San Diego County Jail on charges of robbery and burglary in the second degree.
