August 23, 2019 (El Cajon) – When deputies from the Lakeside Sheriff substation tried to make an enforcement stop on a Mitsubishi in El Cajon yesterday at 1:30 a.m., a passenger fled on food and the car drove away.
One deputy pursued the vehicle while the other chased the passenger, who ran into an occupied residence, but left when confronted by the occupant. An El Cajon Police officer located the passenger on a nearby rooftop in the 300 block of Compton Street and took him into custody, recovering a firearm.
A pursuit began near East Bradley and State Route 67, then headed toward Magnolia and Interstate 8. The vehicle exited Mollison and drove through El Cajon toward Johnson where it got back onto the 8. It exited College where the pursuit was terminated.
The driver was not located, says Sgt. Scott Hill. The investigation is ongoing.
