November 6, 2019 (El Cajon) – El Cajon Police Department is seeking a small silver four-door sedan that may have damage to the bumper, hood and windshield. The vehicle struck a man at the intersection of East Chase and Lincoln Avenue on November 6 around 6:24 p.m.

A passerby started CPR on the victim, who was unresponsive. Medics transported him to Sharp Memorial Hospital via ambulance, where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim, a 58-year-old white man, is being withheld until family is notified.

An investigation found that the pedestrian was crossing Chase in a northern direction in an unmarked intersection when he was struck by the westbound vehicle, which made a U-turn at Lincoln Ave and fled the scene in an easterly direction, says LT. Jason Taub.

The El Cajon Police Department is asking anyone with information on this crime regarding this collision to call Officer Venegas at (619) 441-5521. If you would like to remain anonymous you can contact Crimestoppers at https://www.sdcrimestoppers.org/ or (888) 580-8477.

The El Cajon Police Department would also like to remind those who walk at night to obey all traffic control devices, only cross the street at designated controlled intersections, and wear bright or light-colored clothing for visibility. For those driving vehicles during hours of darkness, please pay extra attention to the roadway and be aware of pedestrians that may be crossing.
