April 16, 2015 (La Mesa)--Thirty years ago, a group of surfers from Malibu, California, were concerned about the health risks associated with environmental threats posed by escalating coastal development at their favorite surf spot. They took action. Not even they could have envisioned the history they were making when they succeeded in protecting their beloved surf spot.

Since their inception in 1984, the Surfrider Foundation has evolved into one of the largest non-profit grassroots organizations dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.

On Sunday, April 12, the Staff of Pret-a-Porter volunteered their morning to help raise money for Surfrider Foundation.  Partnering with Aveda and Surfrider for Earth Month, this was the 2nd annual event for Pret-a-Porter.

“We opened our books for all services at 50% off to motivate our guests to come in on a Sunday and support such a great cause”, said Roz Oserin, who co-owns the Aveda salon and spa with her husband, Dan. We raised over $1,700 at the event which will go directly to Surfrider Foundation.

She adds, “We all feel very grateful to be living in such a beautiful city with easy access to beaches every day.  It is our pleasure and our responsibility to help in any way we can to keep these beaches so that future generations may enjoy them as well.”
