June 16, 2009 (El Cajon)--The Mother Goose Parade is a long-standing holiday tradition in East County--and the largest parade of its kind west of the Mississippi River. Floats, giant balloons, marching bands, equestrian entries and Santa Claus have long been part of the festivities. But this year, without public support the 63rd Annual Mother Goose Parade may not happen on November 22, 2009, if additional funding is not acquired.

With the current state of the economy the usual funding is not coming in as in the past, a press release from the City of El Cajon reveals. The Mother Goose Parade Association is asking for the public’s help by becoming a parade sponsor, making a personal donation, or by taking part in the June 19th Mother Goose Golf Tournament. To send a donation please mail to: Mother Goose Parade Association, P.O. Box 1155, El Cajon, CA 92022. For information on sponsorship, or to register for the golf tournament, please call (619) 444-8712.
