QUAKE EXPERT DR. PAT ABBOTT TO SPEAK AT “HISTORY ALIVE” NOV. 3 IN LEMON GROVE

October 19, 2011 (Lemon Grove)—Could a major earthquake strike San Diego County—and will you be prepared? Well-known earthquake expert and media commentator Dr. Pat Abbott, will discuss the "big one on the next "History Alive" lecture series. The event, sponsored by Lemon Grove Historical Society, will be held November 3 at 7 p.m. in the H. Lee House Cultural Center, 3205 Olive, Lemon Grove.

 

The author, essayist and SDSU emeritus professor of Geology has spent a lifetime among rocks. He holds a master of arts. and a Ph.D in Geology from the University of Texas/Austin and earned his bachelor of arts degree in Geology at San Diego State College (today, SDSU). He has extensively studied ancient soils and climates in relation to the impact of humankind on earth and the planet’s many ecologies.
 

Dr. Abbott's interest in fire, flood, volcanoes, landslides and severe weather have made him the go-to expert for the central geological issue in California life -- earthquakes. When? Where? How big? Who are you going to call?
 

The 34th annual "History Alive" is a free, public service of the Lemon Grove Historical Society and is suitable for ages 13 and over. Questions and answers and refreshments will follow the presentation. For more information, call (619)460-4363.
