July 18, 2018 (Ramona) – After a burglar stole jewelry, tools, electric bicycles and other items valued at $95,000 to $125,000 out of their motorhome and a storage shed in Ramona, Michael and Veronica Mahaffey obtained an anonymous tip.  That led them to 929 East Old Julian Highway, where they confronted Christopher Payne, 24, who admitted to the theft.

The Mahaffeys contacted the Sheriff’s department and Payne was taken into custody. After obtaining a search warrant, detectives found $10,000 of their stolen property, along with narcotics.

Payne was arrested on charges of vehicle burglary, commercial burglary and possession of stolen property. The stolen property recovered at the scene was returned to the Mahaffeys, says Sgt. Rob Samuels.
