August 20 (Sunday, 6:00 p.m.) — Adventures by the Book™ is pleased to present a Happy Hour Adventure with USA Today bestselling author, Renée Carlino at Ignite Bistro, 6996 El Camino Real, Carlsbad, CA 92009. This event is ticketed ($35 per person) and is open to the public.

August 23 (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.) — Warwick's will host T. Jefferson Parker to discuss and sign his new novel The Room of White Fire. T. Jefferson Parker is the author of numerous novels and short stories, the winner of three Edgar Awards, and the recipient of a Los Angeles Times Book Prize for mysteries. Before becoming a full-time novelist, he was an award-winning reporter. He lives in Fallbrook, California, and can be found at www.tjeffersonparker.com.

August 25 (Friday, 6:30 p.m.) — Adventures by the Book™ is pleased to partner with Simply Stunning Spaces for a Simply Chic Adventure with popular blogger & author, Kristy Woodson Harvey at the Simply Stunning Spaces, 7050 Miramar Rd., Suite 101, San Diego. Friday, August 25 (7:30 p.m.)T. Jefferson Parker signs The Room of White Fire. A Southern Californian native, T. Jefferson Parker began his career writing as a reporter for newspapers which helped give him the knowledge and inspirations for his first novel, Laguna Heat.  Jeff's novels primarily focus on crime mysteries occurring in Southern California and have received the highest of praises from The New York Times, The Washington Post, as well as won multiple awards. August 26 (Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.) — Celebrate San Diego’s vibrant reading community and join thousands of local readers, writers and word lovers at the inaugural SAN DIEGO FESTIVAL OF BOOKS.

The Festival of Books at Liberty Station in Pt. Loma will connect San Diego area readers, booksellers, authors and businesses around their common love of the written word with seminars and 50+ authors there to sell books, meet readers, etc.

Admission to the Festival of Books is FREE. Panel discussion tickets are $3 each. $1 will be donated to the San Diego Council on Literacy for each ticket sold.

August 29 (Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.) — Warwick's will host Elizabeth Day with Edan Lepucki to discuss and sign her new book The Party. Elizabeth Day grew up in Northern Ireland. August 30 (Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.) — Warwick's will host Jean Twenge to discuss and sign her new book iGen. Jean M. Twenge, PhD, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University, is the author of more than a hundred scientific publications and two books based on her research, Generation Me and The Narcissism Epidemic, as well as The Impatient Woman's Guide to Getting Pregnant. She lives in San Diego with her husband and three daughters.

Victor Milan has been a variety of things; cowboy, semi-pro actor, and DJ to name a few, but throughout it all he has always been an avid reader and writer. With an expansive list of published books under his belt Victor has been writing a variety of SF and Fantasy novels that readers have enjoyed for years. His love of paleontology shines through in his epic alternate history series, The Ballad of Karyl’s Last Ride.  We at the Galaxy are more than excited to welcome him back to the store for the release of latest installment in the work George R.R. August 28 (Monday, 6:30 p.m.). — Monthly meeting of the SAN DIEGO WRITERS/EDITORS GUILD. Join them to hear Fauzia Burke speak about online publicity, social media, and website development. Fauzia is the Founder and President of FSB Associates, an online publicity and marketing firm specializing in creating awareness for books and authors.

She’s also the author of Online Marketing for Busy Authors (Berrett-Koehler), a nationally recognized speaker, online marketing consultant and coach. Fauzia has been featured on the cover of Book Business Magazine and on the websites of Fast Company, Forbes, Inc, HuffPo and more. She has spoken at Book Expo, Writer’s Digest, the San Francisco Writers Conference, The Muse and The Marketplace, and more. Her consulting services have helped many an author through the maze of publishing and marketing options open to them today.
