November 16 (Monday, 7:30 pm) — Warwick's is hosting writer-like person Alex Sheshunoff to speak about and sign his book A Beginner's Guide to Paradise. November 17 (Tuesday, 7:30 pm) — Warwick's is hosting author and Sons of Anarchy star Wally Rudolph to talk about his new novel Mighty, Mighty. Wally Rudolph, born in Canada to Jamaican parents, had a fifteen-year affair with illicit drugs that had him drop out of college and took him back and forth across the American Midwest. His fiction can be found in the literary journals "Milk Money," "Lines+Stars," "Palooka," "Slush Pile," "The Brooklyner," and the anthology, "Literary: Pasadena." A graduate of The Second City Conservatory in Chicago, he now resides with his family in Los Angeles. This event is free and open to the public. Reserved seating is available. Mighty, Mighty is a modern day fable set in a crumbling metropolis riddled with urban poverty and violence. Dirty apartments, tattoo parlors, food kitchens these are the markers of home for the struggling young adults around Chicago. Stefy is an artist at Ghost Town, the local tattoo shop, trying to provide for her younger sister Amanda and their ailing grandfather. Amanda is hoping for something better, seeking to escape a past riddled with addiction and an abusive relationship with Georgie. When he confronts her one drunken night at a dive bar, the situation turns violent: Amanda barely escapes with her life but Georgie lies dead on the bathroom floor. The American Association of University Women (AAUW) San Diego Branch encourages personal and professional growth in women of all ages. They support scholarship programs and provide community leadership opportunities - all in the context of developing lifelong friendships with like-minded women. November 23 (Monday, 6:30 pm) — The San Diego Writers/Editors Guild presents attorney Martin Kruming, who will speak on the topic of legal challenges facing writers and editors in the digital and social media era. Kruming, a San Diego attorney, and faculty member at San Diego State University, is the editor of the San Diego Lawyer Magazine. He has previously chaired the Marketing Committee of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Kruming has been the recipient of the Bernard Witkin Award from the Law Library Justice Foundation, which honors members of the San Diego legal community for civic leadership, teaching, practice, and adjudication of the law. He currently writes a column titled “ Connections” for San Diego Metro and the North Park News.

December 5 — Deadline for Screencraft Short Story Contest 2015. The jury is looking for short stories with special cinematic potential. Whether you’re writing flash fiction or a novella, they want to read your story! The grand prize winner will receive $1,000 and personal introductions to literary agents, managers, producers and publishers. The top 10 finalists will be read by Screencraft's network of over 40 literary and entertainment industry professionals.
