RECOVERY RESOURCES AVAILABLE FOR WEST FIRE SURVIVORS; 18 HOMES LOST IN ALPINE

July 7, 2018 (Alpine) – Firefighters made progress on the #WestFire overnight, holding the wildfire to 400 acres with containment now 30%.  At least 18 homes are reported destroyed and 8 more damaged.  Evacuation orders remain in place.  A shelter at Los Coches Middle School remains open and pets are welcome at the shelter.

State and county emergency declarations have been issued. 

Two firefighters suffered injuries including facial burns and heat exhaustion battling the blaze.

The Alpine Community Network’s Facebook page has been posting notices of lost and found pets and livestock as well as updates from community members on road closures, property losses and more: https://www.facebook.com/AlpineCommunityNetwork/ . One woman posted that she found a horse, wobbly and in need of veterinary care; another was looking for two duck rescued.
