East County Wildfire & Emergency Alerts

October 8, 2019 (San Diego’s East County) – A red flag alert is in effect for the San Diego County mountains and valleys from 12 noon Thursday through 6 p.m. due to high fire danger.

Elevated fire weather conditions are in effect for tonight and tomorrow as well due to elevated fire weather conditions along the mountains’ desert slopes, due to gusty west winds and low humidity.

By Thursday afternoon into Friday, a moderate Santa Ana wind is forecast with gusty northeast to east winds and extremely low humidity, leading to critical fire danger.

However, temperatures below freezing are possible in the wind-sheltered mountain locations and portions of the high desert Friday morning.
