November 5, 2024 (San Diego) - The National Weather Service in San Diego has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov 7. The Red Flag Warning has been issued due to strong gusty winds, low humidity and is in effect for the inland valleys and mountains of San Diego County.
Meteorologists at National Weather Service Office in San Diego say critical fire weather conditions are expected for the inland valleys and mountains in San Diego County. Any fires that develop will spread rapidly with extreme fire behavior, threatening life and property.
Prepare your family now. Review your emergency plan. Review your evacuation (emergency exit) routes. Be prepared to evacuate if needed. Charge up your phone batteries and be sure your cell phone is registered with AlertSanDiego.org, the notification system used by first responders to alert you. People may also register their VoIP phone numbers or emails. You can get other disaster preparedness tips on the AlertSanDiego.org website.
Strong winds are expected from the Northeast to East during the warning with gusts from 35 to 40 mph in the windier locations. The relative humidity will be as low as 11%. More forecast information and updates are available from the National Weather Service.
