December 28, 2009 (San Diego’s East County) – Looking for a festive party or a special restaurant to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Below is our guide to New Year’s Eve attractions in East County and San Diego’s eastern regions on December 31st, including live music and dancing, fireworks, special menus, casino promotions, and activities for children, families and seniors.


Viejas Casino – Enjoy live entertainment and dancing at the Viejas Casino, 5000 Willow Road in Alpine, from 8 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Choose from DJ Chuck Fresh & Dancers on the casino’s upper level “Hourglass Party”, Rising Star & DJ 2Rille in the Dreamcatcher Lounge, or Makai & D J Kiss in the V Lounge. The casino will offer hourly drawings from 6 to 9 p.m., among other special promotion and giveaways totaling $100,000. Viejas is also offering an extended bus schedule for New Year’s. Sycuan Casino – Sycuan Casino, 5439 Casino Way in El Cajon, will be giving away over $10,000 in cash darwings including a $5,000 cash drawing at 9 p.m. when the ball drops in New York’s Time Square. Additional cash drawings will be held hourly from 6 p.m. to midnight—with free entries for Club Sycuan members. Additional table game giveaways will also be held. Drink specials include $1 champagne. First Night Escondido
– Escondido boasts the biggest New Year’s Eve party celebration for families in North County from 6 p.m. to midnight. Festivities take place in Grape Day Park, Escondido City Hall, and the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. Fireworks shows will take place at 9 p.m. and again at midnight. This event also features 12 stages with music ranging from jazz to Polynesian to classical, dance, artists’ demonstrations, hands-on art activities, plus restaurant and food vendors. There are also special attractions for children including free face painting and caricature artists in Lyric Court, puppet-making and crafts, and much more. Barona Resort & Casino
-- Located at 1932 Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside, Barona Resort & Casino is hosting a party featuring a ‘70s costume contest, dancers, cash prizes, and a special edition of Barona Rapid Fire, in which $1,000 cash will be given away throughout the evening every 15 minutes until midnight. City of La Mesa

A $69 per person charge includes four-course meal, party favors and champagne toast.
