February 13, 2019 (Spring Valley) – Hours after telling law enforcement officers the identity of a strong-arm robbery suspect, Kyshaun Jones, 32, was brutally attacked by the suspect outside of a 7-11 store in Spring Valley yesterday.

Jones had identified a suspect, who was known to him, in a strong-arm robbery which occurred yesterday morning, involving his brother.  Around 5:20 in the evening, Sheriff’s deputies responded to an assault with a vehicle in the parking lot outside the 7-11 store at 9365 Jamacha Blvd.

According to witnesses, the two men were engaged in a verbal dispute near the gas pumps. The argument turned physical and both men began striking each other, according to Sergeant Garth Schick. The men separated and Jones walked toward a white sedan; the alleged assailant got into a  black Cadillac and drove directly toward Jones, striking him with the vehicle.

Jone was thrown onto the hood of the Cadillac and catapulted into the street.  The Cadillac drove off westbound on Jamacha Blvd., but after the injured man managed to crawl onto the sidewalk, the Cadillac “quickly turned around, drove onto the sidewalk, and attempted to run over the injured male a second time” before leaving eastbound on Jamacha, according to Sgt. Schick.

Deputies conducted an extensive search but were not able to locate the suspect.  Jones was transported to Scripps Mercy hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.  The full extent of his injuries is not known at this time, Schick says.  Area Detectives from the Rancho San Diego Station are handling the investigation.
