May 12, 2016 (San Diego’s East County) – Incumbent Mary Kay Rosinski has announced that she will not seek reelection to the Grossmont Cuyamaca Community College District board. Her announcement came after ballots were printed, so her name will still appear on the ballot, however.  Her withdrawal leaves two candidates vying for what is now an open seat for Trustee Area 4.

Elena Dams, a community college educator, has been endorsed by the County Democratic Party, as Rosinski had been in the past although the seat is considered nonpartisan.  Timothy Caruthers, a governing board member in the Alpine Union School District, has been endorsed by the County Republican Party.
