History comes to life in upcoming December events

 
December 6, 2011 (East County) -- Take the San Diego County Library - Winter Reading Challenge December 5 - January 15. All ages at all branches can take the challenge and win prizes. Check out five for a chance to win. Enter the weekly drawing every time you check out five items, and you could win one of these weekly prizes: Board Games, Ear Buds, Thumb Drives, Jigsaw Puzzles, Books, Puppets, Coffee Mugs, Free Beverages Coupons /Free Tickets to Local Events.
 
*Not all entrants will win prizes. Prizes available while supplies last.
 
The San Diego County Library is offering a series of events in December and some of the activities are list below:
 
Alaska: Flying and Photography in the Far North with Mark Stadsklev. Bush pilot, photographer, and author, Mark Stadsklev, will present a slideshow and sign copies of "Alaskan Air: Nature's Artwork on the Alaskan Landscape. He will be at the following libraries at the dates and the times as indicated.

Choir Holiday Performances:
The East County Youth Choir is a free program provided by Staump Music School. This program gives the youth of Lakeside, Santee, and El Cajon the opportunity to learn and experience music, performance, and being a part of an ensemble. They will be entertaining at the El Cajon Library on Wednesday, December 7, at 6:00 p.m.
Santee Community Chorus presents a free community concert featuring Christmas songs and classics, offered by the Santee Library, Friday, December 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
 
The Ramona Library presents holiday crafts for the whole family, starting at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2011, with the Ramona High School Jazz Band, Ramona High School Madrigals and Women’s Choir, and Santa.
 
Family Holiday Craft Day all supplies provided, atthe Rancho San Diego Library, Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.
Decorate Cookies at the Pine Valley Library, Wednesdays, December 14, 21, 28, 2011, at 3:30 p.m., Make Holiday Bracelets, December 14, Frost Cookies, December 21, and make New Year Crowns, December 28.

Fit and Fun After School

Mad Science Adventures in Winter at the Santee Library, Wednesday, December 21, 2011.at 2:00 p.m. Learn about the wonders of dry ice and see a snowstorm vanish before your eyes in the holiday show "Adventures in Winter."

E-Books and Audio books 101 at the Poway Library, Thursdays, December 22, and 29, 6:30 p.m. learn to search for and download e-media from the library website.
