February 28, 2012 (San Diego)-- San Diego leads the nation in rooftop and on-site solar installations.  According to a recent report from e Environment California Research & Policy Center, over 4,500 installations and 37 MW peak capacity for the city--15,700 installations—have been made within San Diego Gas & Electric’s service territory.  Now the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), CleanTECH San Diego and San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) are offering a solar energy symposium on March 6 at the University of San Diego to discuss the future of solar energy in the region.
 
 
Experts from organizations including Kyocera, SEPA, Soitec, UC San Diego, the California Center for Sustainable Energy, the Clean Coalition and keynote speaker Michael Picker (Senior Advisor to Governor Jerry Brown, Renewable Energy Facilities) will discuss the region’s rapid solar expansion and potential challenges for future growth. 
 
The San Diego Solar Energy Symposium will be held at the University of San Diego, Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice (5998 Alcala Park) on Tuesday, March 6 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.   A reception will follow from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
