July 6, 2013 (Santee)—At Wednesday’s meeting, the Santee City Council will hold a public hearing on a resolution to declare eminent domain in order to obtain easements and fee interests for dozens of properties on nine different streets, as part of the Prospect Avenue street widening project.

Property owners have rejected fair market offers made via a letter, according to the agenda for Wednesday’s meeting.

The project would include dozens of properties on Prospect as well as properties on Hubbles Lane, Paseo Drive, Cora Mae Place, Tumbleweed Terrace, Siesta Road, North Magnolia, Fiona Way, and more.

The city seeks to widen Prospect Avenue for installing bike lanes, sidewalks, lighting, curbs and gutters, as well as placing utilities underground.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednseday, July 10 in Council Chambers, Building 2, 10601 Magnolia Avenue in Santee.
