August 7, 2017 (La Mesa) — Scammers claiming to be from the “La Mesa Energy Control Board” have been calling La Mesa residents to solicit information and money, according to a post on the La Mesa Next Door forum.
There is no such department in La Mesa, nor has anyone from the city been calling residents about any type of “Home Energy Opportunity Program.”
If you receive one of these calls, do not share any personal information, and hang up, police advise.
