November 14, 2024 (El Cajon) – Two people were transported to a hospital early this morning with injuries caused by a speeding vehicle that crashed into their home’s bedroom in the 800 block of Jamacha Road in El Cajon.

El Cajon Police officers, along with Heartland Fire & Rescue, responded around 2:10 a.m. and found 80% of the vehicle inside the home. A man and woman, both in bed, were struck by the vehicle. The man suffered a serious injury and the woman was treated at a hospital for a minor injury.

The driver, a 26-year-old man from El Cajon, was not injured and remained on scene. He underwent a series of field sobriety tests and was later released.

“The cause of the collision was determined to be excessive speed due to the conditions of the curve on the road,” says Lieutenant Kevin Reilly with the El Cajon Police Department. . “A building inspector was called to the scene and deemed the structure unsafe.”

Jamacha Road has long been the scene of illegal drag-racing, prompting numerous complaints from residents over the years, though it is unclear whether racing may have been a factor in this incident.
