September 7, 2013 (San Diego) - The non-profit San Diego Renewable Energy Society (SDRES) invites property owners, building and corporate sustainability managers county-wide to join San Diego’s leading solar and energy efficiency innovators and contractors for an interactive, behind-the-scenes tour of seven cost-cutting commercial energy solutions during the Commercial Leg of the San Diego Renewable Energy Society's 13th San Diego Sustainability Tour, September 20, from 10 am to 4:30 pm.

There will be boots-on-the-roof presentations and Q&A sessions with the contractors responsible for installing the tour’s main assets, including Home Energy Systems, SunUp Energy, PURE Solar Power, Adroit Solar, SolarCity (for US Bank), Engineers for a Sustainable World and Envision Solar.

The tour begins at San Diego Gas & Electric’s (SDG&E’s) Energy Innovation Center, 4760 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. San Diego, with the latest in money saving energy efficiency (lighting, materials, intelligent HVAC and energy management), cool roof, solar and electric vehicle charging innovations to save money, improve properties and attract more tenants.

From there, the tour hops on a bio-fuel bus to travel to five unique locations for behind-the-scenes tours with local contractors and property owners, whose solutions are saving them money, earning big tax credits and creating more appealing work and living spaces.  Solutions to be toured run the gamut from energy efficiency, fuel cell, solar water heating, solar electric (PV) to electric vehicle charging, EV-PV and energy storage systems. The second stop features an up-close and personal look at SDG&E’s 2013 Energy Grand Champion Award-winner, UCSD.

SDG&E energy experts and technology innovators will share information about free workshops, efficiency incentives, AB 1103 (new legislation requiring energy benchmarking for commercial properties leased or sold) and cost-cutting strategies as you travel to each commercial tour destination.
