April 2, 2010 (San Diego) – San Diego State University’s Aztecs suffered defeat to the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth last night, where TCU scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat the 11th-ranked Aztecs’ 4-1.

SDSU freshman Corey Black made his first start of the year, after four relief appearances. Black held opponents to one run and three hits in 6.2 innings, striking out a season high of eight batters. He squared off against TCU left-hander Matt Purke, also a freshman.

The Horned Frogs loaded up the bases in the top of the eight, but failed to take advantage of the opportunity, ending the inning when pinch hitter Guy Willeford grounded into a double-play.

The three-game series with SDSU and TCU continues tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. Central Standard Time.
