SDSU CROSS COUNTRY TAKES NINTH PLACE AT THE HIGHLANDER INVITE

October 13, 2018 (Riverside) - The San Diego State cross country team finished in ninth place out of 22 teams at the Highlander Invitational 5k Saturday morning. The Aztecs had a season-high 13 runners compete and were paced by Marissa D’Atri, who finished in 36^th place with a time of 18:07.0.

Alize Hartke, who led the Aztecs the last time they ran a 5k, came in right behind D’Atri with a time of 18:11.3 (39^th place). The rest of the SDSU top five consisted of Paige Comiso (51^st; 18:22.1), Renee Laurenzana (56^th; 18:27.9) and Renee Phillips (83^rd; 18:58.7).

Natalie Regalado clocked in at 19:21.0 (104^th) and was followed by Natalie Medina (121^st; 19:36.4) and Isabelle Davis (138^th; 20:01.2).

Other Aztecs competing included: Nyjari McNeil (151^st; 20:15.3), Angela Wilson (174^th; 20:51.2), Naomi Smitham (175^th; 20:52.5), Sakura Roberson (202^nd; 21:48.4) and Danielle Scott (223^rd; 22:55.5).

STAT OF THE MATCH

Marissa D’Atri (9^th) and Alize Hartke (10^th) cracked the top ten for best times run on this 5k course by an Aztec. 60 SDSU runners have raced this course since 2003.

THE NOTE I

The Aztecs have had a different top finisher in all four of their races so far this season.

Four Aztecs who are traditionally mid-distance track runners made their XC debut: Nyjari McNeil (151^st; 20:15.3), Angela Wilson (174^th; 20:51.2), Sakura Roberson (202^nd; 21:48.4) and Danielle Scott (22:55.5).
