September 13, 2016 (Newport Beach, Calif.) - San Diego State senior linebacker Calvin Munson has been named the Lott IMPACT Player of the Week, The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced today. In recognition of Munson’s performance, the Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation will make a $1,000 donation to the general scholarship fund at SDSU.

Munson (St. Charles, Mo.) led the Aztecs with a career-high 14 tackles (nine solo) to go with 1.5 tackles for loss and an 8-yard sack in a start vs. California. A team captain, Munson led the team in tackles for the 11th time of his career, while posting his seventh game with double-digit tackles.

Munson is the first Aztec to ever win the national award, which he captured last season after returning two interceptions for touchdowns in SDSU’s season opener against San Diego.

Winners of 12 consecutive games, the second-longest active streak in the country behind defending national champion Alabama (14), and off to their first 2-0 start since 2011, the Aztecs travel to DeKalb, Ill., to take on Northern Illinois at 2:30 p.m. CT (12:30 p.m. PT) Saturday. The Huskies (0-2) are 31-2 (.939) at home, the best home record in FBS play since 2010. NIU joins SDSU and Boise State as the only "Group of 5" teams to play in at least six consecutive bowl games.
