September 14, 2019 (Las Cruces, N.M.) - Sophomore running back Jordan Byrd rushed for a career high 128 yards and two touchdowns and sophomore defensive end Keshawn Banks recorded five tackles, two for loss, as San Diego State defeated New Mexico State, 31-21.

Byrd and Banks, both of whom played their prep careers in the state of New Mexico, helped lead the Aztecs to the program's third 3-0 start in the last four years. However, this marks the first time the Aztecs have opened 3-0 with two of the victories coming in road games since 1981.

SDSU never trailed, cruised to a 17-0 halftime advantage, and essentially put the game away in the third quarter by forcing a turnover and scoring two plays later.

San Diego State will be back in action next Saturday against Utah State (1-1). Game time at SDCCU Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m.
