June 6, 2019 (San Diego) - San Diego State men’s basketball released the initial version of its Mountain West Conference schedule for the 2019-20 campaign on Thursday; the first phase in the 2019-20 schedule process. For the seventh consecutive year, the format will include 18-games (nine home and nine road games) with each team playing eight opponents twice (home-and-home) and two opponents once.  MW games begin on Dec. 4 and wrap up on Feb. 29.

National television partners, CBS Sports Network and ESPN, will shift some games from Wednesday to Tuesday and from Saturday to Sunday for broadcast purposes.  All national television selections and date changes are expected to be completed by late August.  Regional partner AT&T SportsNet and the Mountain West Network on STADIUM will finalize their broadcast selections after the national television lineup has been announced. Game times will be set once all broadcast networks finalize their selections.

League play begins with a pair of early December contests. SDSU kicks things off on Dec. 4 in Fort Collins, Colo., taking on Colorado State and then returns to The Mesa to host San José State on Dec. 8.

Following a pair of non-conference contests in late December, the Aztecs get back into Mountain West action with two-of-four games on the road.  San Diego State is in Viejas Arena with Fresno State visiting on Jan.1.  The Scarlet and Black then has back-to-back road games at reigning Mountain West champion Utah State on Jan. 4, and Wyoming Jan. 8 before returning home to host Boise State on Jan. 11.

Two weeks after hosting Fresno State, the Aztecs will be in Fresno’s Save Mart Center on Jan. 15 to wrap up the regular-season series with the Bulldogs.  Back on The Mesa for back-to-back games on Jan. 18 against Nevada and Jan. 22 versus Wyoming, the month ends with a pair of road games.  The first stop will be at The Thomas & Mack Center against UNLV (Jan. 25) and then Dreamstyle Arena (The Pit) for a matchup with New Mexico (Jan. 29).

February features both the team’s byes.  The first comes on Feb. 5, after a home game against Utah State on Feb. 1.

San Diego State travels to Colorado Springs, Colo., for its lone match-up against Air Force on Feb. 8, but from that point, until the conclusion of the Mountain West Championship, will not leave the Pacific Time Zone.  The Aztecs are back in America’s Finest City to host New Mexico on Feb. 12 and then are at Boise State to take on the Broncos on Feb. 15.

Following the team’s second bye (Feb. 19), the regular season wraps up with a pair of home game, against UNLV (Feb. 22) and Senior Night versus Colorado State (Feb. 26), and a final road game at Nevada (Feb. 29).

This season SDSU will not travel to San José State or play host to Air Force.

In addition to the Mountain West Conference schedule, San Diego State recently announced its participation in the Basketball Hall of Fame Classic where it will play Utah on December 21 in STAPLES Center as well as its inclusion in the Continental Tires Las Vegas Invitational on Nov. 28 and 29.  In Las Vegas, the Aztecs will play two games over two days with possible opponents Texas Tech, Iowa or Creighton.

The Aztecs return six of their top nine scorers off a team that posted a 21-13 record and advanced to the championship game of the Mountain West Conference tournament in 2019. San Diego State is one of just nine schools nationally to win at least 19 games each of the last 14 seasons and is one of 29 schools to play in seven of the last 10 NCAA tournaments.

In addition, the renewal period for season tickets is currently underway. Fans wishing to be added to the waitlist may do so now by also contacting the SDSU ticket office at (619) 283-7378.

SDSU's complete non-conference schedule will be announced at a later date.
