September 21, 2021 (Bremerton, Wash.) - San Diego State senior men’s golfer Puwit Anupansuebsai (Nakhon Phanom, Thailand) fired a final-round 4-under-par 68 to finish in a tie for 11th at the Husky Invitational Tuesday on the par-72, 7,155-yard Olympic Course at Gold Mountain Golf Club.

Anupansuebsai, who began Tuesday in a tie for 32nd place out of 80 entrants, logged five birdies in the final round, including three over his final five holes to move up 21 places overall at 4-under 212. Anupansuebsai’s 68, which featured only one bogey (par-4, 481-yard third hole), tied for the second-lowest round of the day in the field.

Classmate Steve Sugimoto (San Diego/Rancho Bernardo HS), meanwhile, finished a shot back of Anupansuebsai in a tie for 15th at 3-under 213 following a 3-over 75 on Tuesday. Sugimoto had a pair of birdies, but also five bogeys for his 75.

Sophomore Liam Koeneke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines HS) tied for 61st at 9-over 225 with a 76 today, while senior Youssef Guezzale’s (San Diego/La Jolla HS) 75 had him finish in a tie for 63rd at 10-over 226.

Freshman Shea League (Jamul, Calif./Steele Canyon HS) also was in the lineup and tied for 69th at 12-over 228 after a 77 in Tuesday’s final round.

Townsend was four shots back behind co-champions Nick Watts (San José State) and Greyson Leach (Oregon), who both reached double digits at 10-under 206 in the 45-player field.
