This was the first match the Aztecs have given up more than one goal

October 3, 2021 (Corvalis, Ore.) - The Aztec men’s soccer team (6-2-2, 2-2-0) fell at Oregon State (6-1-1, 2-0-0) 2-0 Sunday afternoon. The Beaver scored both their goals in the first half, which was the first time SDSU allowed a first half goal all season.
“I’m not a believer in moral victories but was really proud of the way we kept fighting and believing even in the toughest of moments,” Head coach Ryan Hopkins said. “Those lessons are not only valuable for soccer but also in life.”
The Beavers struck first in the 19th minute when Adrian Molina-Diaz finished an assist from Javier Armas and Joran Gerbet.
Six minutes later, they added to their total with a goal from Carlos Molinar.
SDSU was outshot 19-4 and 8-2 in shots on goal. SDSU had two shots in each half.
This was the first match goalkeeper Jacob Castro and the Aztecs allowed more than one goal. Castro finished the match with six saves.
STAT OF THE MATCH
Before today, SDSU hadn’t allowed a first half goal. Oregon State scored both of their goals in the first half.
THE NOTE
This was the first time the Aztecs trailed in regulation.
