February 23, 2019 (Albuquerque) - The San Diego State Aztecs track and field team took third place at the Mountain West Indoor Championships after winning the 4x400 meter relay with a record breaking time Saturday at the Albuquerque Convention Center.

Kasey Ebb, Lisa-Anne Barrow, Maya Brosch and Sakura Roberson finished in 3:39.52 to beat the school record set two years ago by 0.64 seconds.

Sophomores Callista Fletcher and Jalyn Harris both picked up points in two events for the Aztecs. Fletcher took fifth in the 60 meter dash (7.43) and the 200 meter dash (24.00). Her time in the 200 was a PR and entered her in the top ten in school history.

Jalyn Harris earned a second place finish in the 400 (54.65), coming in just 0.21 seconds behind the leader. She also finished in seventh in the 200 (24.94).

Sakura Roberson came in fifth place in the 400 with a time of 55.35.

Bonnie Draxler, who became the first athlete to win the indoor pole vault title four times yesterday, qualified for the finals in the 60 meter dash where she finished eighth (7.60).

Freshman Nyjari McNeil also came in eighth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.47

The Aztecs had three athletes competing in the high jump. Hannah Taylor and Asia Smith each cleared 1.62m. Freshman Sara Absten had a mark of 1.57m.

The Aztecs have finished in the top four at the MW Indoor Championships since 2010.

The record-breaking 4x400m relay team consisted of a freshman, two sophomores and a senior.

Pole vaulter Bonnie Draxler will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 8-9.  The rest of the Aztecs will begin their outdoor season at either the Oxy Distance Carnival or at the San Diego Collegiate Challenge at UCSD.
