SDSU WATER POLO REVEALS 2024 SCHEDULE

San Diego State will host national powers Stanford, Long Beach State and UC San Diego, which all finished the 2023 season ranked in the top-10 in the nation.

January 11, 2024 (San Diego) - San Diego State water polo head coach Dana Ochsner announced her team’s 2024 schedule on Thursday. 

The slate includes a total of 30 regular season games, of which includes five tournaments and 11 games at the Aztec Aquaplex.

The season kicks off on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 19 and 20, with two games each day, at the Titan Invitational in Fullerton, Calif. SDSU will play Westcliff (12:30 p.m.) and host Cal State Fullerton (7 p.m.) on Friday and then wraps up play at the event on Saturday against LaVerne (9 a.m.) and Cal State Monterey Bay (2:30 p.m.).

 

The team’s next event is the Triton Invitational from Friday through Sunday Feb. 2-4 at UC San Diego. The Aztecs will play four games in the event and their matchups and game times will be announced at a later date.

 

San Diego State makes its first appearance at the Aquaplex on Saturday, February 10 with a doubleheader against Long Beach State (1 p.m.) and CSU Monterey Bay (3:30 p.m.).

 

The next weekend finds SDSU in Princeton, N.J., at the Princeton Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 17 and 18. On Saturday the Aztecs play Siena (12:30 p.m. ET/9:30 a.m. PT) and LaSalle (6:30 p.m. ET/3:30 p.m. PT) and then on Sunday will go up against Wagner (1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT) and host Princeton (5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT).

 

Two weeks later, San Diego State competes at the Claremont Convergence in Pomona, Calif. The host Claremont-Mudd Scripps has not announced matchups, but the Aztecs will play four games between Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2.

 

The next week, Friday through Sunday, March 8-10, SDSU hosts the Aztec Invite at the Aztec Aquaplex. The Scarlet and Black opens the event Friday with a Golden Coast Conference (GCC) game against Concordia (noon) and then faces CSUN (2:30 p.m.). On Saturday, the team is back in the water against Indiana (10:20 a.m.) and Stanford (3 p.m.) and wraps up play on Sunday against Harvard (12:15 p.m.).

 

The team’s next six games are against GCC opponents starting on Saturday, March 15 at Fresno State (noon). SDSU then returns to the Aquaplex for a pair of contests against Azusa Pacific, on Friday, March 22 (4 p.m. PT), and Saturday, March 23 versus Pacific (1 p.m.).

 

On Saturday, April 6, the Aztecs are at Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles, to take on the Lions (1 p.m. PT), then are back home for senior day on Saturday, April 13 against Santa Clara (1 p.m.) and wrap up league play on Saturday, April 20 at Cal Baptist (1 p.m.).

 

The regular season concludes at the Aquaplex on April 21 with the Harper Cup against UC San Diego (1 p.m.).

 

The 2024 GCC Championship Tournament will be contested Friday through Sunday, April 26-28 at Santa Clara’s Sullivan Aquatic Center and the NCAA Championship is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, May 10-12 at Spieker Aquatics Complex on the campus of the University of California.
