September 29, 2021 (Wolcott, Colo.) - The Aztec women’s golf finished up their second round at the Golfweek Conference Challenge Wednesday evening. SDSU had five holes left to play after the second round was suspended due to darkness, the previous day. The third round was canceled. 

The Aztecs came in 18th place out of 20 schools and were led by freshman Anika Sato, who finished tied for sixth after shooting a 71 (-1) in both rounds. Sato was one stroke away from tying for third.

 

East Tennessee State won the team title, finishing six-under par with two golfers in the top three. Denver’s Anna Catherine Krekling took home the individual championship after shooting six-under-par (66 & 72).

 

Sato finished out the second round strong, notching two birdies and four pars in her final six holes.

 

Sara Kjellker, Bernice Olivarez Ilas and Anna Lina Otten all finished 10-over-par and tied for 75th place (out of 105).

 

Sara Kjellker had a quadruple-bogey on her second to last hole (#8) of the day, her second of the round, and finished seven-over-par on the round.

 

Bernice Olivarez Ilas wrapped up her second round Wednesday with four pars and a double bogey to shoot a 77 in both her rounds.

 

Anna Lina Otten bogeyed her first hole (hole No. 5) Wednesday and then finished her round with four straight pars to give her a 75, the second best second round score by an Aztec.

 

Sammy Lee bogeyed four of the five holes she played Wednesday and finished with a 79 in her second round and was 12-over-par on the week.

The Aztecs will wrap up their fall schedule Oct. 11-12 at the Illini Invitational at Medinah.
