February 2, 2019 (Oceanside) – An Oceanside father of four who vanished on January 4th may have traveled to East County.  John Sturkie’s cell phone was traced to El Cajon on January 5 and 6 before it died. He is known to frequent Julian, the mud caves in Anza-Borrego desert, Palomar Mountain and Brawley/Calipatria.

Sturkie’s wife has said her husband came home in a rush on January 4 and told her he was going to the beach for a bonfire with friends, but he never returned. He was driving a silver 2015 Toyota Tundra, CA license 625117F2. His vehicle has not been found.

He is active in his church and Boy Scouts. His family says it is unlike him to take off and not come home.  Money in his bank account has not been touched and his family is very concerned.

He is 55 years old, 6ft. 5 inches tall, bald with blue eyes and a salt-and-pepper goatee.

If you have any information on John Sturkie or his vehicle, please contact Elizabeth Bunn at the Oceanside Police at (760)435-4069 or ebunn@ci.oceanside.ca.us.
