August 26, 2011 (Fallbrook) – A thousand pounds of avocados will make a lot of guacamole. That’s how many avocados Barron Stein, 43, is charged with stealing at a value of $1,500.
“Stein has a prior history of avocado theft,” San Diego Sheriff Detective Jim Pucillo reports.
He is accused of the heist from a grove in Bonsall in the area of Camino Del Rey and Luis Rey Heights Road. The crime was captured on surveillance cameras and the suspect was identified off the footage.
Stein was arrested August 23 at 9 a.m. as he was walking in the 1100 block of Old Stage Road in Fallbrook. He has been charged with grand theft , since the value was over $250.
There is no word on what happened to all those avocados, otherwise known as green gold.
