June 14, 2017 (Santee) – Just one day after the Sheriff’s Department sent a notice alerting Santee residents of sex offender Michael Bauer’s release into the community, he was arrested again today for violating his parole terms.  The Sheriff’s Department has not provided details on the nature of the parole violation.

Bauer is being held without bail at San Diego Central Jail. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has also prohibited from returning to 10380 Prospect Avenue in Santee. He previously served prison time for molesting a 7-year-old boy in a fast-food restaurant restroom in 2009.

The paroled sex offender was being monitored by an ankle bracelet while in Santee, and was formerly a transient in San Diego.  He was prohibited from having contact with any minors or being near schools, parks, playgrounds, movie theaters or other places where children gather.

California Penal Code Section 290, also known as “Megan’s Law,” permits law enforcement agencies to warn the community about sex offenders who frequent the area. For more information on Megan's Law, visit https://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/.
