March 14, 2011 (Jamul) – The San Diego Sheriff’s office has issued a special bulletin seeking public help to locate Miguel Medina Sanchez, 32, also known as Macario Lopez Merino.

He is wanted for the murder of Maria “Irma” Palos De Rubio, 44 at 15677 Lyons Valley Road on Saturday, March 12th.

A Mexican national who is a frequent international border crosser, Sanchez was last seen Friday in Jamul. He is 4 feet, 11 inches tall, weighs 90 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes, according to the Sheriff’s bulletin.

Rubio’s body was incorrectly reported as male in an earlier press release issued by the Sheriff.

10 News reported that the body was found by the ranch’s owner, lying on the floor in the home of a missing ranch hand. Sheriff’s homicide detective Dennis Brugos had previously stated, "There was trauma on the body. I can't go specifically into what those signs were, but certainly there were things that indicated to paramedics and deputies that this was not a natural death.” Today a Sheriff spokesman clarified in another media report that after obtaining a warrant, homicide detectives discovered that the body was, in fact, a female.

Anyone who sees Sanchez aka Merino or knows of his whereabouts is advised to call 911. For information leading to an arrest, you could receive up to a $1,000.00 reward and remainanonymous. The qualifications of any person(s) for the reward and the amount of the reward for any person(s) so qualifying will be determined by San Diego County Crime Stoppers, Inc. in its sole discretion. The amount of all rewards given shall not exceed $1,000.00 Information must be received on the tip line at (888) 580-8477.
