SHERIFF GORE TO JOIN “FINISH CHELSEA’S RUN” ON SATURDAY, MARCH 5

March 3, 2011 (San Diego) -- Chelsea King never got to finish her run at Rancho Bernardo Community Park on February last year, when convicted sex offender John Gardner murdered her. This Saturday, March 5th, Sheriff Bill Gore and Sheriff’s Department employees will participate in Finish Chelsea’s Run at Balboa Park starting at 7:30 a.m.

 

Sheriff Gore will be supporting the King family during the opening ceremony. They will
be at the VIP tent near the stage. Sheriff Gore along with department employees will also take
part in the 5K Run/Walk.

 

The Sheriff’s Search and Rescue (SAR) Unit which helped in the search for Chelsea King
and Amber Dubois will be present with SAR Volunteers and several SAR K-9s. Crime
Prevention Specialists from Poway and the Sheriff’s liaison to Crime Stoppers will be also on
hand to provide safety tips and information about a teen driving safety program called “Start
Smart.” Their booths will be located near the starting line along 6th Avenue near the Inspirational
Signing Wall.
