October 28, 2019 (El Cajon) – A metal horse sculpture stolen from in front of the Double S Tack and Feed Store in unincorporated El Cajon has been recovered in Arizona.  Two men have been arrested and charged with the theft.

San Diego County Sheriff’s detectives from the Alpine station, aided by detectives from the Arizona Department of Public Safety “GITTEM” Task Force arrested Percy Hill, a resident of Golden Valley, Arizona, and Rick Freeman of Lakeside on October 25th.

The theft occurred on October 2 but was reported by the business owner on October 12. “The community associated with this business was instrumental in identifying potential leads for investigators to utilize in this investigation. It also needs to be mentioned that the business community around this area provided numerous investigative leads through the utilization of surveillance technology,” says Sergeant Kelly Moody.

Alpine Detectives coordinated with the San Diego Regional Law Enforcement Coordination Center to contact detectives in Arizona to find and recover the sculpture at a home in Golden Valley.  The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that one of the accused thieves, Percy Hill, wanted the horse statue for his own residence.

The owner of the sculpture told the Union-Tribune that the sculpture has damages, but she is hopeful that a welder can repair the recovered horse sculpture.
