September 27, 2012 (San Diego’s East County)—The Shockey Fire is now 100% contained, after destroying 11 homes, 14 outbuildings, and 11 vehicles. The blaze also claimed the life of an elderly resident and injured three firefighters.
Cause of the fire, which began at Shockey Truck Trail near Campo before causing serious damage in the Tierra del Sol area of Boulevard, remains under investigation.
