SHOOTING DEATH IN EL CAJON; SUSPECT SOUGHT

August 20, 2015 (El Cajon)—El Cajon Police  responded to a 911 call reporting a possible shooting last night at 7:15 p.m. at an apartment complex at 989 Peach Avenue in El Cajon. Officers found the victim, a black man about 40 years old, lying on the ground in the parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to a hospital for treatment, but later died of his injuries. His name has not been released pending notification of family.

“Based on witness reports, the suspect and the victim were involved in a verbal argument in the parking lot of the complex, prior to the shooting,” said Lt. Frank La Haye. “After the shooting the suspect was seen fleeing on foot prior out of the area. Responding officers conducted an extensive search but were unable to locate the suspect.”

 The suspect is described as a heavy-set black male adult wearing dark clothing.
