GROUP WILL SERENADE YOUR SWEETHEART FEB 12-14: LIVE OR ON THE PHONE!
By Miriam Raftery
February 6, 2010 (La Mesa) – Looking for an inspired way to say “I love you” to that special someone? California Note Catchers is offering singing valentines February 12, 13 and 14. For $40, the women’s a capella singing group will deliver two love songs, a single rose and a valentine card in person. Or send a singing phone-gram to your valentine for just $10.
Singing love songs at Valentines Day is just one of the ways the California Note Catchers share their love of barbershop, one of the few purely American music traditions, with their community. The Note Catchers also perform at assisted living facilities, senior centers, hospitals, churches, and a variety of other venues.
Founded in 1995, The California Note Catchers is a not-for-profit, charitable organization, affiliated with the international organization, Harmony, Inc. Each year the chorus works to support local charities. The American Cancer Society has been the chorus’s charity of choice for the past several years, as they have lost members and loved ones to the disease, including the founding member whose vision started the chorus. In the past year charitable activities included performing at the Lemon Grove Relay for Life and Grossmont Rehabilitation.
The California Note Catchers welcome women of all ages and singing ability to join their chorus. Rehearsals are held on Monday nights from 7-9 at the La Mesa First United Methodist Church on the corner of Palm Avenue and Lemon Avenue.
